Doctor Who delayed next week

For my British readers (I do have readers, right?) and whomever might be catching that latest Who episodes via other means: I came across this article at the BBC’s Doctor Who site which indicates that Doctor Who won’t be shown next weekend (May 12th) on BBC One as usual, due to the Eurovision Song Contest. Instead, it will simple be delayed to next weekend.

NBC Rewind opens, runs contest

You’ll never need to miss an episode of Heroes, or any one of a bunch of NBC shows. NBC Rewind is now open, where you can watch complete episodes with limited commercial interruption. To celebrate, they are running a contest where you can win a script signed by the entire cast of Heroes or one of nine other shows.
Andromeda Strain moves forward, changes networks

The names are the same, except for the channel. We first reported over two years ago that The Andromeda Strain was being prepped as a mini-series for the SCI FI Channel with Ridley and Tony Scott, David W. Zucker and Tom Thayer all involved, using a script from Robert Schenkkan. Well, it will go into production this summer with director Mikael Solomon (Salem’s Lot), and a move to the A&E Network, and possibly an increase to 6 hours. A most interesting move…
SCI FI confirms Who Series 3 in July

The SCI FI Channel has confirmed that it has picked up Series 3 of Doctor Who to be aired starting in July. This means a U.S. DVD release would be likely in October. The 4th episode of the series, “Daleks in Manhattan”, aired in the U.K. this past weekend.
Who‘s scariest? Daleks

The BBC Doctor Who web site conducted a poll on who were the scariest villains in the new Doctor Who, and toping the list are the Daleks – no surprise there, as hey have always been at the top of such lists. Second were the gas-masked zombies from “The Empty Child”. In general I agree with the list, although I’d perhaps move the Ood up a bit. And the Daleks return this weekend, apparently invading Manhattan…
The Lost Room DVD mini-review

New Stargate series in the works

According to GateWorld, a new, third series based on the Stargate universe is in the works. With the working title Stargate Universe, it currently exists only as a one-page treatment, according to exec producer Robert C. Cooper, and will be completely separate yet “connected” to the existing Stargate franchise. More will be fleshed out after principal photography wraps up on the two Stargate SG-1 movies.
4th season’s the charm – Who goes, Galactica grows

The SCI FI Channel, after originally ordering only a 13-episode fourth season of Battlestar Galactica, has increased the order to a full 22 episodes, including a two-hour extended episode that will air in the 4th quarter of this year and will get a special DVD release. Across the pond, confirmation of a 4th series for Doctor Who has been release – although they are mum on whether current Doctor David Tennant is attached. The Doctor is seriously running short of regenerations…the third series begins airing on BBC One on March 31st – and should be on all the Bittorrent trackers about two hours later. High 4s all around!
More Futurama finally – on DVD first

Futurama WILL finally return to television, after having been cancelled in 2002 and momentarily revived – but according to creator Matt Groening, it will be on DVD first. 16 episodes will be produced, being split among 4 DVDs with the first, FUTURAMA: BENDER?S BIG SCORE coming first in December. Then the episodes will be “reconfigured” and appear on Comedy Central.
