Adrian Paul returns as the Tracker
by Doc on Oct.29, 2001, under Television
Apparently this one flew under the radar. Adrian Paul is exec producing and starring in a new syndicated series called Tracker, in which he plays Cole, who chases 218 (sets a goal, doesn’t it?) of his species to Earth. He spoke to SCI FI Wire about affects of inflation on the budget versus Highlander, and the article also mentions the appearance in the pilot of Joanie Laurer, formerly known as Chyna in the World Wrestling Federation. It apparently debuted this past week.
Knight Rider to return – again
by Doc on Oct.29, 2001, under Television
He can’t leave well enough alone, apparently. David Hasselhoff told SCI FI Wire that Michael Knight may return. Seems he’s in negotiations with a major studio to produce (the tentatively titled) Super Knight Rider 3000. Apparently 1991’s Knight Rider 2000, 1994’s Action Pack-packaged Knight Rider 2010, and 1997’s Team Knight Rider didn’t kill it off. And get the start of the plot summary on IMDB: “Michael Knight comes out of retirement after being frozen, because he was injected with a fatal poison…”
The Tick premiere delayed a week
by Doc on Oct.24, 2001, under Television
“The life of a super hero is a lonely one, filled with hardship and danger. The few who answer the call must leave comfort, safety, and often sanity behind.” Thus starts the intro on the official web page for Fox’s live-action The Tick. Originally set to premiere next Thursday, it will be delayed a week and premiere on Thursday, November 8th, at 8:30PM…

Legend of the Rangers Trailer posted on SciFi
by Doc on Oct.09, 2001, under Television
djryan writes “A new trailer for Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers has been posted on SciFi Channel’s Website and it looks pretty impressive. Take a look at http://www.scifi.com/b5rangers/trailer/ to see it in its Quicktime glory.” Alas, it is only available in QuickTime, and my work system can’t play that yet…the official site has been redesigned too…check it out.
Enterprise: Dump the theme?
by Doc on Oct.02, 2001, under Television
Seems there is trouble brewing in Trekkerland – about the theme song to Enterprise. The soft-rock theme, “Faith of the Heart” by Diane Warren and previously song by Rod Stewart for the movie Patch Adams, hasn’t found favor with the Trekkers who are used to the Goldsmith themes – there is even two online petitions here and here – totalling over 2100 “signatures” so far. But, there is a petition to keep the song as well – with 46 signatures to date.
Farscape renewed for a further two years
by Doc on Oct.02, 2001, under Television
djryan writes “SciFi Channel has announced that it has renewed Farscape for an additional TWO seasons of 22 episodes each. This ensures that the series will go for the full five-year run. In making the announcement, Bonnie Hammer said,
“Farscape is not only the most ambitious original series on basic cable, we think it’s one of the best-written shows
on television, period. It’s no wonder that it’s the top-rated series on SCI FI for three years running.”“ Again, he beats me to posting… :^)
Trek A Five Day Mission begins on TNN today
by Doc on Oct.01, 2001, under Television
It’s already started (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock) is on now, but TNN’s Five Day Mission is currently running, first with several of the early movies, followed by a special called “America loves…Star Trek” hosted by Jonathan Frakes (Commander Wil Riker). Then TNG’s Encounter at Farpoint (with the two parts split by a couple hours of wrasslin’) and a few other random Season 1 episodes late night. The remaining days this week consist of nearly 24 hours of TNG (2am-9am is all infomercials) taking most of the best episodes of each season. For more details, go to The Official Star Trek Site.
Michael Shanks not returning to SG-1??
by Doc on Sep.27, 2001, under Television
This is all second hand, but in tracing back a thread on alt.tv.stargate-sg1 (“Losing SG1 cast member?”), apparently Brad Wright, the producer of Stargate SG-1 announced at GateCon that Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson) would not be returning to the show when the 6th season begins on the Sci Fi Channel. I know he expressed what seemed to be disinterest in another season at other appearances…it appears that he and Brad came to an agreement for him to leave the show. He is to be replaced by another character, but no details. As soon as I see something confirmed, I’ll let you know…
