Farscape Season 3 starts Friday, March 16th
by Doc on Mar.15, 2001, under Television
Is Aeryn really dead? What about Crichton’s brain? Well, it is a Sci-Fi show after all, so we can probably be safe in our assuptions that all will be well – but then again, this is Farscape, so something could still linger in the depths. Farscape‘s season 3 premiere airs at 9:00PM Friday, March 16th, preceded at 8:00PM with a special, Farscape Undressed, on The Sci-Fi Channel.
Updated 3/15: Just a reminder…

Star Trek Series V Character List
by Doc on Mar.04, 2001, under Television
Christian writes “Over at TrekToday.com, we’ve posted a news article on the next Star Trek series, based on a casting sheet for the next show. The breakdown sheet confirms many of the rumours that have appeared on the internet over the past years. Series V will indeed be set on a Starship Enterprise, under the command of human Captain Jackson Archer. The backdrop of the series will be the 22nd Century, at a time when starship travel was a relatively new endeavour, humans and Vulcans still had much to learn about each other, and the universe really was still filled with strange new worlds, new life and new civilisations.”

Outer Limits back in production?
by Doc on Feb.26, 2001, under Television
Did I miss an announcement? Outer Limits, which had first-run episodes until recently on Showtime and also showed earlier seasons in syndication and on the Sci-Fi Channel and was cancelled as far as I knew, is apparently back in production for first-run episodes for the Sci-Fi channel and will premiere March 16th. Perhaps there was a “Babylon-esque” cancellation to get out of the Showtime contract?
I love anthology series, as they give us a chance to see stories that otherwise wouldn’t make it on the screen. I’d love to see some of Larry Niven’s Known Space stories.
Battlestar Galactica coming back???
by Doc on Feb.22, 2001, under Television
Test Pattern is saying that Variety broke a story early this morning that Brian Singer (X-Men) has signed up to exec produce a new Battlestar Galactica TV series for Studios USA. The interesting part is both series creator Gary Larson and star Richard Hatch have been trying to put forth their respective versions of a new show for a couple of years, and no mention is made as to which version, if either, this will be…
Update 2/23: Fandom.com has an interview with Tom DeSanto, Brian Singer’s partner with X-Men and this project. Nothing earth shattering yet, but still…
Update 2/27: There is an open letter from Richard Hatch on his web site regarding the Singer/DeSanto version.

Sci-Fi Wire is reporting that Chris Carter stated that The X-Files could go on for a ninth year, assuming all the details can be straightened out. David Duchovny is already returning for the finale to this season, which could be the series finale if things don’t work out…

Could Roddenberry’s Genesis II make it on third try?
by Doc on Feb.12, 2001, under Television
Gene Roddenberry’s Genesis II TV movie, about a scientist in cryogenic suspension awakening over 150 years later and finds the world is now primitive after a cataclysmic war and starred Alex Cord, was a pilot for a series – it didn’t make it. He resurrected it a year later with Planet Earth, kind of a second episode with John Saxon replacing Cord. It still didn’t get picked up (although the premise was good). Now, it may get a third try…
