AMC passes on Line of Sight

by on Mar.05, 2014, under Television

Almost a year after it gave a pilot order for Line of Sight, a science fiction drama that was to star The Walking Dead‘s Governor David Morrissey, the network decided to pass on making it a series, according to Deadline.

We’re still not sure what made the show science fiction exactly – presumably it would be unveiled as they story went, but we’d watch Morrissey again. I might also add that he played eponymous “Next Doctor” in the 2008 Christmas episode of Doctor Who.

Syfy’s Being Human ending after 4 seasons

by on Feb.25, 2014, under Television

BREAKING: I just got a press release that indicates that the current season of Being Human is the last, and with what appears to be something of a reset coming in the lives of Aidan, Josh, Sally and Nora after the events of last night’s episode, it seems as if it might be fitting – even though I will miss the show and the actors greatly.

The second half of the season will lead up to a spectacular finale on April 7th.

It seems that although surprising to the fans, this was known already: Showrunner Anna Fricke and the talented producers, writers, cast and crew have done an amazing job bringing this show to life over the past four seasons and we sincerely thank them and the series’ production company Muse Entertainment for their hard work. They’ve saved the best for last with the final six episodes that revisit the story’s beginning, leading to a not-to-be-missed send-off for Aidan, Sally, Josh and Nora.

Here is a video with a special message from the cast to the show’s dedicated fans.

Note: This does NOT appear to have necessarily been a directive from Syfy, but an artistic decision. From Sam Witwer via tweet: “Wanted to tell a great story from beginning to end. We didn’t want to bleed the concept dry
Believe it or not -Artistic decision”

Samuel Anderson joins Doctor Who as recurring character

by on Feb.24, 2014, under Television

Actor Samuel Anderson, best know for his roles in The History Boys and Emmerdale as well as a few guest appearances on Gavin & Stacey, will join the cast of Doctor Who in a recurring role in the upcoming 8th revival series of the show, with new Doctor Peter Capaldi.

Anderson will play Danny Pink, a teacher at the Coal Hill School where current companion Clara Oswald also teaches.

If you’ve heard of the Coal Hill School before, it has appeared a few times in Doctor Who already – including the very first episode, as the school from which Ian Xhesterton and Barbara Wright taught and followed home Susan into the junkyard and then into the TARDIS. It then appeared some 25 years later in Remembrance of the Daleks when the Seventh Doctor returned to the area to take care of some unfinished business. And then it appeared at the beginning of the 50th Anniversary episode Day of the Doctor, mimicking the very first scene of the very first episode, where we learn that Clara is employed as a teacher, and Ian Chesterton is listed as Chairman of Governors.
