by Doc on Sep.17, 2013, under Television
A new breed of werewolves are coming to Syfy with the acquisition of the first season of the new Canadian scripted series Bitten from leading independent studio Entertainment One (eOne).
Season 1 of Bitten, consisting of 13 one-hour episodes, will premiere on Syfy in 2014.
Based on the New York Times best-selling Women of the Otherworld novels by Kelley Armstrong, Bitten is an emotionally charged supernatural thriller starring Laura Vandervoort (Smallville, Ted) as Elena Michaels, the lone female werewolf in existence.
Desperate to escape both a world she never wanted to be part of and the man who turned her into a werewolf, Elena (Vandervoort) has abandoned her Pack and taken refuge in a new city. There, she works as a photographer and hides her werewolf existence from her new boyfriend. When bodies start turning up in her Pack’s backyard, Elena finds herself back at Stonehaven, the werewolves’ ancestral domain. Torn between two worlds and two loves, she quickly realizes that – when push comes to shove – she’ll stop at nothing to defend her Pack.

AMC to spin off The Walking Dead into a companion series
by Doc on Sep.16, 2013, under Television
AMC plans to create a spin-off series of hit show The Walking Dead, and is working with executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert to launch the series in 2015.
Not much more is known about the series at this time, other than according to AMC president/GM Charlie Collier, “It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”
Kirkman, who wrote the original comic book on which the show is based, added, “After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”
The Walking Dead returns October 13th for its fourth season.
Glee‘s Grant Gustin is CW’s The Flash
by Doc on Sep.14, 2013, under Television
The CW has chosen their next comic book superhero.
Grant Gustin, who played Sebastian Smythe on Fox’s Glee as well as Campbell Price on the CW’s 90210, will play Barry Allen – a.k.a. The Flash – in three episodes of the network’s Arrow series this coming season, with the plan to then spin it off into his own series. He will appear in episodes 8, 9 and 20 this season as part of the plan to present his origin story.
In this version of the story, Allen is a forensic investigator from Central City who comes to Starling City investigating some unexplained robberies that may be linked to his past. He will be presented as an ordinary person to start, a comic “fanboy” obsessed with The Arrow, unaware that he’s stepped right into the vigilante’s world…

Slated for a June 2014 launch, production is currently underway in Toronto, ON for the 13-episode second season of the ambitious series, which delivered an average of 1.5 million viewers 18-49 and 3.2 million total viewers in its first season, based on Live +7 data. Defiance is produced by Universal Cable Productions.
Atherton steps into the supporting role of the jaded, Earth Republic official Viceroy Mercado, Major Pottinger’s (James Murray) commanding officer. Mercado is ruthless, quick tongued and sarcastic, fond of peppering his sentences with obscure old Earth cultural references and mocking younger subordinates for being too young to understand. He sees Pottinger for the manipulative person he is, but grudgingly admits the man gets results. Mercado also has a dark secret that would shock his colleagues and the townspeople of Defiance.
