Actor Robin Sachs, 1951-2013
by Doc on Feb.06, 2013, under Obituaries
Actor Robin Sachs, who has played many different roles across the board, often in prosthetic makeup, passed away last week at the age of 61.
Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer might recognize his face as that of Ethan Rayne, but he did a lot of voice work (most recently in the game Mass Effect 3) and acted frequently in prosthetic makeup, including the role of Sarris in the Tim Allen comedy Galaxy Quest, four different roles in Babylon 5 (two Narn and new Minbari), and General Valen in (Star Trek: Voyager).

by Doc on Feb.05, 2013, under Movies
I didn’t realize it was only speculation so far, but Disney’s CEO Bob Iger confirmed in a live interview with CNBC that Disney/Lucasfilm is working on several standalone Star Wars films, in addition to the continuing saga with Episode VII slated for 2015.
He couldn’t give any details as to characters or plot or anything like that, but did say that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are currently working on them, as reported back in November.

Rebooted Thuderbirds are Go! series gets 26 episode order for 2015 airing
by Doc on Feb.04, 2013, under Television
It was almost two years ago that Gerry Anderson stated very matter-of-factly that a new Thunderbirds series was going to be made. Since then we heard nothing, and Anderson himself passed away in December.
Now ITV Studios announced that it will co-produce a new Thuderbirds are Go! series with New Zealand based Pukeko Pictures and Weta Workshop, with 26 half-hour episodes to be aired on ITV and CITV in 2015. Presumably it will be shopped to international markets as well.
The new show will be a combination of CGI and live-action models, paying tribute to the Supermarionation style Gerry Anderson made famous.
The Thunderbirds follow the Tracy family of five brothers who are part of International Rescue, and pilot a variety of spectacular vehicles to come to the rescue of people around the world.

Hey –
Well, it’s been a draining few weeks, to say the least. I’m still shocked that Henry’s gone. This flu is getting out of hand and I don’t know what to do. So, bear with me if I seem a little out of sorts—I’m hungry, OK?
I’ll be OK, though – you’ll see. Watch the sneak peek below. But, if that’s not good enough, you know you can always tweet @BeingHumanSyfy to demand the first four minutes of Monday’s episode. Also, Josh took the time to make this little vlog about some of his favorite music.
See You,
A

Defiance is not just a TV show starting April 15th – it is also a MMO shooter game which now has its own release date – April 2nd. And now there is a live-action game trailer that gives a bit of the setting of the game!
While the TV show takes place in the town of Defiance on what was once St. Louis, the game takes place is the San Francisco area – as shown by the ruins of the Golden Gate bridge in the background. It also shows the collection of mercenaries that are Ark Hunters, hunting for the remnants of the Votan arks that had mysteriously exploded years previously but still occasionally rain down on the Earth, devastated by the Pale Wars.
