NBC gives Revolution full season order, but won’t pick up Munsters reboot, Mockingbird Lane
by Doc on Oct.02, 2012, under Television
NBC is starting it’s back-end pick ups of freshman series, and Revolution made the cut, getting a full-season order. Although not doing spectacular in the live ratings, it is apparently NBC’s most time-shifted (people watching later on DVRs) show.
However, those looking forward NBC’s reboot of the classic comedy The Munsters (which was going by the title Mockingbird Lane, referring to the street the Munsters lived on) will get no joy, as it appears that NBC has chosen to pass on the series after the pilot. I was originally very skeptical of the show, but after landing Eddie Izzard as Grampa I thought it could have been interesting. No idea if they plan to air or release the pilot.
Update: Maybe Mockingbird Lane isn’t dead. At least according to producer Bryan Fuller on Twitter: NBC just informed me the Deadline article regarding #MockingbirdLane was Dead Wrong. Stay tuned for updates!
Wyatt out, Reeves in for Apes sequel
by Doc on Oct.01, 2012, under Movies
Cloverfield director Matt Reeves will take over the reins from Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes director Rupert Wyatt for the sequel, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, according to Deadline.
Rumors were circling recently that Wyatt was unhappy with the production schedule the studio had set and was not likely to return. Fox still expects to meet their May 23, 2014 release date.
Reeves also directed and wrote 2010’s Let Me In, and also wrote many episodes of episodes of Felicity and directed several of them.

by Doc on Sep.28, 2012, under Obituaries, Television
I just learned a short time ago via a Facebook post from JMS that actor Michael O’Hare, who played Commander Jeffrey Sinclair in the first season of Babylon 5 (and reprised the role in the two part “War Without End”) among various other TV appearances and a New York stage career, passed away today at the age of 60, after having suffered a heart attack on Sunday and remaining in a coma since.
Our condolences to the O’Hare family.

Could we see “Director’s Cut” type enhancements to Harry Potter novels, plus a side story?
by Doc on Sep.26, 2012, under Books
It seems that J.K. Rowling wishes she spent more time on a couple of her Harry Potter novels – and she may do something about it.
Currently doing publicity for her first adult-aimed novel [asin=0316228532]The Casual Vacancy[/asin] (released tomorrow), she spoke with BBC arts editor Will Gompertz, and mentioned the desire to re-work a couple of the books, saying she didn’t spend enough time on them.
“There were a couple of the Potters and I definitely knew that they needed another year,” she said. “I had to write on the run and there were times when it was really tough. And I read them, and I think ‘Oh God, maybe I’ll go back and do a director’s cut’, I don’t know. But you know what, I’m proud I was writing under the conditions under which I was writing, no one will ever know how tough it was at times.”

Now it seems they have, although there was no formal announcement – instead, it appears that you can win a chance for a trip to the set for season 4 in 2013…and if it wasn’t renewed, that would be hard to do…
