Just in time for next year’s Twilight Zone Marathon
by Doc on Jul.06, 2008, under Television
The Thunder Child writes “There are 156 episodes in the original TV series, The Twilight Zone, and every July 4th, the SciFi Channel typically airs a marathon of this classic show.
But, they don’t air the shows in chronological order. So…do you know if you’ve seen all of The Twilight Zone episodes?
Be sure, with our Twilight Zone Checklist. Download it for free at the webpage below. It’s a free, 9-page PDF file. Consists of the episode’s title, its original airdate, the two major stars, and a column for you to check whether or not you’ve seen it.

Bits o’Stargate news
by Doc on Jul.03, 2008, under Television
Just a couple of Stargate Atlantis tidbits: This is somewhat old news, but exec producer Joseph Mallozzi confirmed that Torri Higginson (Dr. Elizabeth Weir) will not return in Season 5, and it sounds like it may not happen in the future either. In addition, Robert Picardo (Richard Woolsey) took part in a conference call (I was invited but the time was a conflict) to discuss becoming a regular cast member this season, where he said that it was a “bold thing” by the producers to pick a character “who doesn’t seem to be necessarily the first choice for a leader.” And a further side note: Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton, in which Picardo appeared, is closing September 1st. He said, “…it breaks my heart a little bit to no longer be my own theme park ride.” There is hope it may live on somewhere else in some form though.

Actor Don S. Ain’t It Cool reports on some early Star Trek footage
by Doc on Jun.30, 2008, under Movies
Harry over at Ain’t It Cool News managed to score some time watching J.J. Abrams edit some footage for the upcoming Star Trek movie – and spills the beans on some of the footage he saw regarding various cadets getting their starship assignments, as well as the bridge of the Enterprise. How does the bridge look? “Then for the first time in the history of Star Trek, it looked amazingly functional. It echoes that classic Trek look ? but imagine if you handed that design to the folks at APPLE and said? Make it really work.”
Babylon 5 fans donate G’Kar special effects mask to museum
by Doc on Jun.25, 2008, under Television
Tomoko Kawamoto writes “Eleven fans of the epic science-fiction television series Babylon 5 (1994-98)–all previously unknown to one another, and living in places from Washington State to England–have bought a pristine prosthetic mask used on the show and donated it to Museum of the Moving Image (New York). Worn by actor Andreas Katsulas in his role as the exiled alien ambassador G’Kar, the mask had been put up for auction on eBay. The donors pooled their resources to purchase it and then gave it as a gift to the Museum, so that the mask would be accessible to fans and to the general public.

John Carter of Mars may be animated
by Doc on Jun.23, 2008, under Movies
The long-coming John Carter of Mars project, based on the series of books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, which has passed through many hands to its current resting place at Disney, may not be live action, but animated. Writer/Director Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, Wall*E) says they haven’t made a decision on the format yet, and won’t “for about a year.” So it looks like John Carter will continue to wait.

JMS gets praise; working on Lensman
by Doc on Jun.18, 2008, under General News
J. Michael Straczynski has probably scored A-list status for his work on The Changeling, which was directed by Clint Eastwood (and is being held until later in the year as a possible Oscar contender), and now he’s getting A-list praise, and a formidable list of projects. New on the list: Lensman, being developed for Ron Howard and based on the novels of E. E. Smith.
