Not all shows coming back with the writers

Variety has a rundown of network shows and how they will be handled when production picks back up. Notably for NBC, “Shows not expected to resume production include “Bionic Woman” and “Journeyman”; both are currently considered canceled.” But Chuck and Heroes is likely to come back later this year. On ABC, details are being worked on regarding Lost, which had a 16 episode order for next year but may get extended if this year’s order can’t be completed.

Actor Roy Scheider, best known for his role as Chief Martin Brody in the first two Jaws films but also among genre fans as the star of 2010 and SeaQuest DSV, passed away Sunday at the age of 75, after having been treated for the past two years for multiple myeloma.
Jericho comes back to life Tuesday

CBS’ Jericho, the series that fans helped bring back from cancellation, will pick up as a mid-season replacement starting Tuesday night at 10pm ET, picking up right where it left off with the townfolk about to get in a major firefight.
Writers strike all but over

The leaders of the Writers Guild of America have recommended the latest contract offer to the rank and file, and although a final vote may not be over for a couple weeks, have cleared the workers to go back to work as soon as Wednesday. It includes provisions for compensation on digital streamed media, one of the major sticking points that resulted in the strike.
Remastered Trek: “The Ultimate Computer”

Next up on the “remastered” episodes of the original Star Trek airing this weekend: “The Ultimate Computer”. This has a lot of potential with the space battle between the Enterprise and 4 other Federation cruisers, although I think its still unlikely that 4 cruisers on an attack would be so close together. K.I.T.T. to get new voicebox for Knight Rider

You can either blame Ford, or blame GM, depending which car manufacturer you dislike more, but the car makers are behind the reason that the voice of K.I.T.T. in the new Knight Rider telefilm/pilot is being replaced. Will Arnett had already completed his voice work for the role, but he has also been the voice of GMC Truck commercials for years. Well, when GM found out that Ford was not only providing the car (a Mustang) for the show, but also is taking part of the marketing, GM asked him to pull out. K.I.T.T. will instead be voiced by Val Kilmer (Batman Forever, Deja Vu).
Actor Barry Morse of Space: 1999, The Fugitive, 1918-2008

Actor Barry Morse, probably best known as Lt. Girard in the series The Fugitive, chasing Dr. Richard Kimble, but also known around here as Professor Victor Bergman in the first season of Space: 1999 and variety of smaller roles (I remember last seeing him in TekWar), passed away at the age of 89 Saturday. He was one of those actors that for some reason, no matter how small or limited the role, I liked him in it.
Torchwood – The Complete First Season DVD Review

The first season of Doctor Who spinoff series Torchwood was released on DVD almost two weeks ago, but I’ve finally been able to take the time to review it – there were a LOT of interesting featurettes that I just couldn’t stop watching…which is real good for a DVD set…
Doctor Who, Sarah Jane Adventures in U.S. in April

Some good news – fans in the U.S. will get to see the second Doctor Who spinoff, The Sarah Jane Adventures, on the SCI FI Channel starting in April, along with the 4th series of Doctor Who, according to Gallifrey One. A more child-oriented show (although it can still be a bit scary – but my 7-year-old loved it), it provides a counterbalance to the far more adult-oriented Torchwood.
