Mini-review: Finding Nemo
by Doc on Jun.10, 2003, under Movies
I usually like to watch something more than once before I go as far as assigning scores to Nitpicks and such, so here is a no-score review of the new Disney/Pixar film Finding Nemo. In brief – I don’t care how young or old you are, go see it.

The SCI FI Channel announced that Gale Anne Hurd (who produced the upcoming Hulk and Terminator 3) will produce the six-hour miniseries based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s Red Mars. Robinson will consult, and the screenplay is being written by Gregory Widen (Highlander). Finally, some headway…

by Doc on Jun.06, 2003, under Movies
Zap2It is reporting that the plotlines have been revealed for the next two films in the Alien series. Number 5 has the aliens attacking Earth (in “drop ships” supposedly shown in the first movie – IIRC that was some other alien’s ship). Number six has the aliens attacking other planets with Ripley turning to the “dark side” (huh?) to save civilization.
“Get in the Gate” sweepstakes
by Doc on Jun.05, 2003, under Television
I probably shouldn’t mention this, as it will skew the odds…but starting June 6th, you will be able to register on the SCI FI Channel’s official web site for Stargate SG-1 for a chance to win a trip to the MGM production facility in Vancouver for a walk-on role. The season premiere for Stargate SG-1 is June 13th at 9pm ET (with a bonus episode at 10pm).

The official web site for Fox Searchlight’s new zombie thriller from the makers of Trainspotting is up, and they have trailers (Large, Medium, and Small), and even the first six minutes of the movie (Large and Small). Special previews are on Friday the 13th, with a limited release on June 27th and wider release in the following weeks.

Rebirth of Dustrunners
by Doc on May.31, 2003, under General News
Anonymous Coward writes “Since I found out about Dustrunners on this site, it seems like a good place to talk about its rebirth… it seems the show was put through hell and is now (what they’re calling) an open source project. I’m not sure if you can really make a show when you have everyone on the internet offering their $0.02, let alone who owns the stuff once it’s made… in short, it looks like a stretch, but at the very least you get to see what goes into making a sci fi show.”
