Indiana IV set to possibly start in 2004

by on Oct.23, 2002, under Movies

Dark Horizons has a bit reported from a BBC1 interview with Harrison Ford regarding the fourth Indiana Jones adventure. Both he and Spielberg have cleared their schedules in 2004 for production, and George Lucas and Frank Darabont are working on an outline script. And Ford’s age (he’ll be sixty) will be taken into account.

More Potter books planned?

by on Oct.22, 2002, under General News

Something is afoot at Hogwarts – well, Warner Brothers. A British newspaper is reporting that WB has applied to the UK Patent(?) Office for the rights to Harry Potter and the Pyramids of Furmat, Harry Potter and the Chariots of Light and Harry Potter and the Alchemist’s Cell. We know there were to be 7 books originally, and the 5th is titled Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This could mean that 10 books in total may be written – but not necessarily by J.K. Rowling. CNN.com says the agent is denying any additional books, and none of the names would be used.

Young MacGyver pilot ordered

by on Oct.17, 2002, under Television

I’m not sure if I’m happy or frightened. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the WB has ordered a pilot for Young MacGyver, an update of the television show that starred Richard Dean Anderson from 85-92. This new show focuses on MacGyver’s nephew, is being written by Sam Baum, and reunites the production team of John Rich, Henry Winkler (yes, the Fonz), and Stephen Downing.

Harry Potter bits

by on Oct.17, 2002, under Movies

A couple of bits of Harry Potter news – after denying he had major health problems, the agent for actor Richard Harris, who plays Professor Dumbledore, says he is in fact hospitalized for treatment of Hodgkin’s Disease. Fortunately Hodgkin’s is very treatable, and he’s done well, and is expected to be available for filming the third movie. In the meantime, catch the UK trailer.

Sci-Fi Storm reaches 2

by on Oct.16, 2002, under General News

Another forgotten post – this past Sunday (10/13) Sci-Fi Storm reached its second birthday – and I’m still sane – well, at least as sane as I was when I started, I think…anyways, what to look for in the coming year? Well, I’m looking to change software (possibly PostNuke), as soon as I can spend the time on it; I hope some of you will be doing reviews, once I’ve managed to jot down some guidelines; and homefully be a little more timely with news. Of course it would help if people submitted more (hint hint). Anything you’d like to see?

New Star Trek series coming???

by on Oct.13, 2002, under Television

The first I heard of this was from Coming Attractions in their scoops about Star Trek: Nemesis: Apparently in the film Riker finally gets his command, and it was supposed to include a shot of the Galaxy-class U.S.S. Titan – well, apparently a new ship has now been designed instead, and possibly renamed to U.S.S. Mariner, AND may be the focal point of another series starring Riker and possibly some of the other Next Generation cast. All rumor at this point. Update: Link fixed…

New DVDs: Farscape, Buffy, Star Blazers

by on Oct.12, 2002, under General News

It appears I’ve been a bit lax – Farscape Season 2 Volume 3 was released this past week. I also missed parts 4, 5, and 6 of the Star Blazers: The Comet Empire series being released – plus on Nov. 5th The Complete Comet Empire Collection comes out. Plus, for Buffy fans, The Complete Third Season is scheduled for January 7th.
