Eureka‘s Colin Ferguson, who more recently appeared in the last season of Haven and is now on many TVs as the current Maytag Man in commercials, surprised everyone on Twitter when he tweeted that he’s apparently got a new role on The Vampire Diaries.
“Hmmm…. Seem to have ‘tripped’ my way into a new role… Mystic Falls, hunh? This is gonna be fun :)” was his first tweet, followed later by, “Classic! Everyone who knows the show is telling me I’m going to die. I think I packed too much…”
No details yet as to how long exactly…
Update:: This appears to be a major role, a character called Tripp (and thus his tweet…), and according to executive producer Julie Plec, “He’s in town to give Sheriff Forbes a run for her money.” The role starts with the Season 6 premiere. Tripp is described as “the head of a community militia and surrogate father to his young trainees who will do anything to protect his town,” and was formerly called Mitch in the casting calls.
Haven returns for its fourth season on Syfy September 13th – 10 days after Season 3 releases on [sfs=1361]Blu-ray[/sfs] and [sfs=1362]DVD[/sfs]. And Season 3 purchasers will receive an extra bonus – a 16-page graphic novel called Haven: After The Storm, which fills in some of what happens after the Season 3 finale and the Season 4 premiere, which picks up 6 months later. The comic was limited to 100,000 copies.
And here’s a teaser for Season 4, along with some interesting found footage from a group called the Darkside Seekers…looks like there is going to be more Trouble…and don’t forget, Eureka‘s Colin Ferguson joins the cast!
It’s finally happening…celebrities will be facing the fears of Total Blackout! If you had a sharp eye in the new season’s previews, you may have caught Eureka‘s Neil Grayston (Fargo) – and I knew that an episode had been filmed quite a while ago, but I never got any info as to who was in it…back in 2011, when the the press were given a preview of the show, Eureka‘s Colin Ferguson bravely faced the dark with good results, and I asked then when we might see a celebrity version, but they wanted to get the show up and running first…but now the time has come.
On the July 9th episode, “Celebrity Blackout,” international music superstar Aubrey O’Day (Making the Band, Celebrity Apprentice) joins television host Bob Guiney (Showhouse Showdown, The Bachelor), and actors Erin Way (Alphas, Detroit 1-8-7) and Neil Grayston (Eureka, Wonderfalls) as they go head-to-head in pitch blackness playing Total Blackout for a cause! In a first for the series, all four contestants will participate in each of the show’s three challenges with an opportunity to win up to $15,000 for their individual charities. Charities represented include Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (Guiney), Responsibility (O’Day), Lungevity (Way), and Doctors without Borders (Grayston).
Total Blackout is a half-hour, extreme game show hosted by Jaleel White (Family Matters, Dancing with the Stars) in which contestants battle each other and their fears in a series of challenges played in complete darkness. There are no lights, no blindfolds and no-holds-barred as the players face their anxieties and unexpected surprises in a series of nerve-wracking games.
Now, if we can get a few more of these…who’s up for a special Warehouse 13 edition?
Just heard, right from Colin himself – Colin Ferguson, who played Sheriff Jack Carter on Eureka, is returning to Syfy – this time on Haven, joining the cast for Season 4!
Ferguson will play William, a handsome mysterious stranger, whose secret agenda leads him to Audrey (Emily Rose).
Season 4 begins production today in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It picks up six months after the devastating events of the Season 3 cliffhanger in which the town was pummeled by a violent meteor storm. Audrey and Duke (Eric Balfour) vanished into thin air leaving an injured Nathan (Lucas Bryant) marooned in Haven. The 13-episode season will debut on Syfy in October.
During its third season, Haven averaged 2.3 million total viewers, 1.1 million Adults 25-54 and 901,000 Adults 18-49. It was the #1 cable drama during its Friday night at 10 PM timeslot (based on Live + 7 data) in Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54 and total viewers.
Ferguson’s many feature film credits include Because I Said So, Rowing Through and The Opposite of Sex. He has also starred in a number of movies for television and was a regular on the NBC remake of the hit British comedy series Coupling and the sitcom Then Came You. His many guest-starring roles include CSI, Malcolm in the Middle, Crossing Jordan and Becker.
Here are some of the big and our favorite stories we covered in 2012…
Happy Birthday, Syfy! On Monday, December 10 at 9PM (ET/PT), the Channel will celebrate two decades of award-winning, imaginative entertainment programming during the star-studded Syfy 20th Anniversary Special.
From iconic series such as Farscape, Battlestar Galactica and Warehouse 13 to Ghost Hunters, Face Off and the upcoming transmedia experience Defiance, the special will look back on Syfy’s launch and evolution, and ahead to the future through the personal, behind-the-scenes insights of the creative talent themselves.
Said Dave Howe, President, Syfy & Chiller: “For 20 years, Syfy has been the leader in visionary and provocative entertainment programming. In this celebratory special, the extraordinary talent at the heart of the powerful Syfy brand will talk exclusively about the lasting impact Syfy has had on the media landscape for the last two decades.”
The episode may be called “Just Another Day”, But I’m sure it will hardly be one, as we bid farewell to the residents of the town of Eureka, and the characters we’ve come to love over five years. Let’s hope this isn’t the absolute last we see or hear of Jack, Fargo, Henry, Allison, Zane, Vincent, Holly, Isaac and the rest…
In the series finale, airing on Syfy next Monday at 9/8c, wormholes start popping up all over, threatening to rip Eureka apart unless Carter can stop them. Catch the preview below…
Gateworld reports several new castings for roles in the Canadian Primeval spinoff, Primeval: New World, which will air on SPACE in Canada but has no reported U.S. outlet yet. Chief among them is Eureka‘s Colin Ferguson (Sheriff Jack Carter), who will re-unite with his Eureka co-star Niall Matter in and unspecified role, along with a number of Stargate franchise alums.
Lexa Doig, who appeared as Dr. Carolyn Lam in several episodes of Stargate SG-1 but is perhaps best remembered as Andromeda/Rommie in Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda (and in real life is married to Stargate SG-1‘s Michael Shanks), will reportedly appear as a doctor in the two-part finale. She has most recently been playing Sonya Valentine in the Canadian SF series Continuum.
Stargate Universe‘s Louis Ferriera (Colonel Everett Young) will appear in the last three episodes as Colonel Henderson Hall, who will come into conflict with Evan Cross (Matter).
And fellow SGU alum Patrick Gilmore (Dale Volker) will also appear as a local entrepreneur named Blake in Episode 4.
In next Monday’s Eureka, the people of Eureka and being kidnapped and replaced by body-doubles one by one unless Allison, Fargo and Zane can figure out how to avoid capture and save their town. “Double Take” airs Monday, July 9th, at 9/8c on Syfy.
In next Monday’s Eureka, a mysterious file leads Jo to uncover a spy ring inside Eureka with devastating consequences. Tune in to Syfy Monday at 9/8c!
