Take a journey into Haven’s past to see the beginning of the Troubles in Part 1 of this digital series.
Haven starts again tomorrow night at 8/7c on Syfy! Check out this sneak peek for the premiere, along with a “supertease” for the season! Is Audrey gone for good? Can Nathan get her back?
I was recently in Halifax, Nova Scotia for a fundraiser weekend and some sightseeing with the family…I had the fortune on the way home to make a short stop in nearby Chester – the seaside town which plays host to the production of Syfy’s Haven, standing in for the fictional Maine town.
Haven is in the midst of an interesting period of production. They recently received a “double order” for episodes for the fifth season, a total of 26 episodes. So while they’d normally be getting ready to wrap up production for the season, they are actually just a bit past the first half of a filming schedule that will take them through most of December, block shooting two episodes at a time.
Because of the timing, we were unable to take any photographs of the sets – never know when you might accidentally photograph a spoiler! We did get one picture of the family with a couple people you might recognize…
Just an FYI – Syfy changed their schedule for its Thursday night lineup. Originally Haven was expected to air at 10PM ET/PT starting next Thursday with a lead-in from Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. However, they announced today that they are shifting it around, leading with Haven in the 8PM time slot, with two episodes of Spartacus to follow each week.
Thanks to The Wrap, here is the Season 5 teaser for Haven, where Audrey – or not – gets really evil…
FYI, I will have an article closer to the start of Season 5 with an interview with Lucas Bryant and Adam “Edge” Copeland…I was fortunate to be able to visit the set yesterday during filming, although for production reasons I wasn’t able to take any photos of the set…
The word is out…Haven returns with its super-sized fifth season on Thursday, September 11th, at 10/9c on Syfy! And I will incidentally be in the area where Haven is filmed this weekend, so who knows who – or what – I will run in to… 😉
Syfy’s fan-favorite series Haven will get a new resident when Laura Mennell (Nina Theroux on Alphas, Janey Slater on The Watchmen) joins the cast in a recurring role playing Dr. Erin Reid, a brilliant and beautiful epidemiologist from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who fears the town of Haven is on the verge of a deadly viral outbreak. Filming for the series’ 26-episode fifth season is currently underway on location in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Dr. Erin Reid is a worldly scientist whose focus is investigating the diseases that plague mankind. She’s a force to be reckoned with, as Audrey Parker (Emily Rose), Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant) and Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour) quickly discover. Meanwhile, Dwight Hendrickson (Adam Copeland) works overtime to keep the troubles hidden from Erin. But, when she unknowingly uncovers a genetic marker found only in Troubled people, the residents of Haven realize her discovery could lead to a scientific cure for the Troubles that plague the town.
When the series returns this fall, Haven’s protectors are thrust into uncharted waters: Duke is now a ticking time bomb, fighting to contain the Troubles within him, while Nathan faces his greatest fear that Audrey — the woman he’s fought so desperately to save — may be gone forever.
Tallying its best season ever in social mentions and Twitter activity, Haven’s fourth season was up 11% among Adults 18-34 (314,000) and up 3% year-to-year among Adults 18-49 (926,000). Overall, Haven averaged 1.1 million Adults 25-54 and 2.3 million viewers per week and ranked second in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 among original cable series in its Friday 10PM ET/PT time slot. (All data Live +7).
Haven, based on the novella The Colorado Kid from renowned author Stephen King, follows former FBI agent Audrey Parker, who becomes a cop in the small town of Haven, Maine, and soon discovers the town’s many secrets, which also hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of her lost past.
From leading independent studio Entertainment One (eOne), Haven is co-commissioned by Shaw Media in Canada and globally via Universal Networks International (UNI).
The creative team behind Haven includes executive producers John Morayniss (Klondike, Rogue) from eOne Television and David MacLeod (Legends of the Fall, The Ray Bradbury Theater) of Big Motion Pictures, who are joined by Lloyd Segan, Shawn Piller, Scott Shepherd (Stephen King’s The Dead Zone, Greek) of Piller/Segan/Shepherd and Matt McGuinness (Journeyman, Franklin and Bash) and Gabrielle Stanton (The Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy). Haven is produced by Entertainment One and Big Motion Pictures in association with Piller/Segan/Shepherd and airs on Syfy in the US, Showcase in Canada and internationally on UNI’s multiple Syfy channels. Entertainment One controls the worldwide distribution rights to the one-hour series.
Good news whether you are a member of the Guard or avoiding the Troubles…Syfy has renewed Haven for a fifth season, but not just that, it’s supersized the order, asking for a “full season” of 26 episodes this time around – the biggest season for Haven yet, after having posted gains in the Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49 demos last year. The season will be split, with production to begin this Spring and 13 episodes to air this fall, with the remaining 13 to air in 2015.
