WARNING – spoilers for the season finale of Legends Of Tomorrow ahead!
Come on, you knew this was being planned as soon as they made the move official…now that Supergirl will join her sibling superhero shows on the CW in the Fall, she’ll also be part of the December crossover event between the shows.
Right before their upfronts, CW chief Mark Pedowitz said, “Just imagine what our superhero crossover episode is going to look like come December.” Then, during the upfront presentation he officially said that she’d be part of it, calling it “our biggest ever.”
There will now be four shows for the crossover…Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, with the latter two having spun off from the former, will get to play with their otherworldly sister. How will it happen? Well, it’s a long way off yet, but with it being established that Supergirl is on a different Earth from Flash (and not Earth-2 either – there were no metahumans on her Earth), it would seem likely that Kara will make the trip to their side this time…
The CW has released the first trailer for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which features characters spun off from Arrow/The Flash, including the Atom (Brandon Routh), White Canary (Caity Lotz), Firestorm (Victor Garber and Franz Drameh), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), plus newcomers Hawkman (Falk Hentschel, Knight and Day) and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), and Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill, Doctor Who), united to fight Vandal Savage (Casper Crump, Almost Perfect)…the show itself will debut on January 21st at 8/7c, where it will be followed by the third season premiere of The 100 at 9/8c.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will actually get a kickoff next week during the two night crossover episodes of Arrow and The Flash, titled “Legends of Yesterday” and “Legends of Today”, appropriately enough…
The spinoff from the The CW’s DC properties Arrow and The Flash is rounding out its cast. Falk Hentschel (Reckless) is joining the cast of Legends Of Tomorrow as Carter Hall, an archaeologist who is the reincarnation of ancient Egyptian Prince Khufu who can call on the powers of Horus and transform into Hawkman.
Hentschel joins the retreads from the parent shows including Victor Garber, Caity Loitz, Brandon Routh, Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller, plus new cast members Ciara Renee (Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Hall’s soulmate), Franz Drameh (Jay Jackson) and Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter).
The CW announced today in their upfronts that they have already picked up DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the official title of the proposed Arrow/Flash spinoff, for the upcoming 2015-2016 season.
From their release:
When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?
The cast includes returning actors Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein, The Flash), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/Atom, Arrow), Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/The Canary, Arrow), Dominic Purcell ( Mick Rory/Heat Wave, The Flash), and Wentworth Miller ( Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, The Flash). Joining them is Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who) as Rip Hunter.
Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter are the executive producers.
