The Agents of SHIELD will have some company on the TV dial with a new cable cousin – Marvel’s Legion has gotten an 8 episode order by FX. Fox’s X-Men production team of Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg along with Fargo‘s Noah Hawley head the project, which stars Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) as David Haller, the son of Professor Xavier, who has struggled since he was a teen with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.
Legion also stars Rachel Keller, Jean Smart and Aubrey Plaza. Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory with John Cameron (Fargo) are also producing.
At least one of the series on Syfy’s April development slate will make it to pilot…it was announced today that Dominion, based on characters from the 2010’s feature Legion, has been given the green light for a pilot.
Dominion is an epic supernatural action drama set 25 years in the future after a war between an army of angels and mankind has transformed the world. The series follows the perilous journey of a rebellious young soldier who discovers he’s the unlikely savior of humanity.
Scott Stewart, who co-wrote and directed Legion, is back to direct the pilot, and is one of the project’s executive producers. Michel Litvak and David Lancaster of BOLD Films are also Executive Producers. Vaun Wilmott, who is also writing the Syfy miniseries development project Ringworld, is writer and co-executive producer.
