In case you missed Part 1 of Syfy’s Neverland, here is a “catch up” clip you can watch – and it also repeats at 7/6c on Syfy right before Part 2.
Neverland debuts with Part 1 Sunday, December 4th, on Syfy at 9/8c, and Part 2 at the same time on Monday. Here is another sneak peek at the mini-series prequel to the Peter Pan story, plus some interviews with the cast. And don’t forget to read our review here: Syfy’s Neverland – How the great adventure began
Next Sunday will mark the debut of Syfy’s latest fairy tale mini-series, Neverland, which will air in two parts on Sunday, December 4th, and Monday, December 5th, at 9/8c. Unlike the previous mini-series (Tin Man and Alice), it is not a twisted retelling of the story, but actually an origin prequel which explains how Peter became the “boy who never grew up”, how James Hook became a pirate captain who battles Peter, and how they and the Lost Boys found themselves in a place called Neverland where no one grows old. It stars Rhys Ifans as James Hook, Charlie Rowe as Peter Pan, and Anna Friel as pirate captain Elizabeth Bonny, along with Bob Hoskins (reprising his Hook role as Smee), Charles Dance (Dr. Fludd), Q’orianka Kilcher (the Native American princess Aaya), and Keira Knightley (the voice of Tinker Bell).
Here is another trailer for the upcoming Peter Pan origin story Neverland, starring Rhys Ifans, Bob Hoskins, Kiera Knightley and Charlie Rowe. Neverland airs on Syfy on December 4th and 5th at 9/8c – expect a review soon!
How did Peter Pan and Captain Hook end up in Neverland? How did Peter learn to fly? Was Hook always a pirate? How is it they never grow up? In general, how did they become the characters we are familiar with?
That is the premise behind the upcoming Neverland – a prequel or origin story to J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, and stars Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, The Replacements, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1), Anna Friel (Limitless, Land of the Lost), and Charlie Rowe (The Golden Compass), who joined us along with Syfy President of Original Content Mark Stern to discuss the mini-series which will air on Sunday, December 4th and Monday December 5th at 9pm ET.
This year’s Syfy Digital Press Tour started a little differently – last year there was a low-key reception dinner just with the Syfy executives – this year it was a luau theme, complete with Hawaiian shirts, a fire dancer, and this time, with the talent! One of the first I met while waiting for it to begin was Rhys Ifans, the actor who has played a wide variety of roles such as a the crazy roommate in Notting Hill, “The Leg” in The Replacements, Xenophilius Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1, and now James Hook in the upcoming Neverland and Dr. Curt Conners/The Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man.
The Syfy Digital Press Tour event begins tomorrow, so I thought I’d give a little preview of what’s going on, and give you another opportunity to ask questions that I will get answers for! during the event, you can follow along with Twitter using the #syfytour hash tag, and I’ll be live tweeting through all the panels, and as much as I can during the Halloween Horror Night and Harry Potter parties!
Syfy’s upcoming original movie Neverland is a prequel to the classic J.M. Barrie story Peter Pan, where you get to see a Neverland before Captain Hook took over, and before Peter meets Wendy! Check out the trailer below…Neverland airs on December 4th and 5th at 9/8c.
Along with the big programming announcement, Syfy also said that with the success of their “Countdown to Christmas Week” last December which featured special holiday episodes of Eureka and Warehouse 13, this year those shows plus Ghost Hunters and Haven will feature holiday-themed episodes, and the week’s centerpiece this year will be Neverland, featuring the voice of Keira Knightley as Tinker Bell, which we’ve reported on earlier.
Syfy will also have a Twilight Zone New Years marathon for the 17th straight year.
Syfy announced today that Academy award nominated actress Keira Knightley (Pirates Of The Caribbean) will be the voice of Tinker Bell in Neverland, a a four hour prequel to Peter Pan, being produced for Syfy and Sky Movies. Other cast members already announced are Rhys Ifans (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1) as Jimmy Hook, Charlie Rowe (The Golden Compass) as Peter, Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies) as Captain Elizabeth Bonny, Bob Hoskins (Who Framed Roger Rabbit), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Dr. Fludd, and Raoul Trujillo (Cowboys & Aleins) as a Holy Man.
Hoskins is apparently reprising his role of Smee from 1991’s Hook, although how this will work into the story with a much younger Hook remains to be seen.
