PETA claims animal abuse on The Hobbit; Jackson says hold your horses

by on Nov.20, 2012, under Movies

Surprise, surprise – less than a month before the opening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, PETA decided to level charges of animal abuse on the production, claiming that 27 animals died during the making of the films, saying that “death traps” where they were stabled caused the deaths, and a horse was “hobbled”. Paramount has confirmed that 9 minutes of Star Trek: Into Darkness, which thus far has been shrouded in secrecy aside from a handful of frames shown by J.J. Abrams on late-nite TV, will premiere exclusively in IMAX3D theaters on December 14th – which happens to be the opening day of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

With a May 17th, 2013 release it will be nice to actually see something about the movie… 🙂

Part 3 of The Hobbit titled There and Back Again, set for July 18th, 2014 release

by on Aug.31, 2012, under Movies

Warner Bros and MGM announced today that the added third installment of The Hobbit, now called The Hobbit: There and Back Again (using the extended title of the book, which was The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, and was originally to be used for Part 2), will be released worldwide on July 18th, 2014. This means there will be a shorter wait than between Parts 1 (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which opened this December 14th) and 2 (now retitled The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which opens on December 13th, 2013) to finally see the conclusion of Peter Jackson’s extended take on the classic book.
