Alternate scene from Star Wars: The Clone Wars finale tells how Ahsoka really feels

by on Oct.14, 2013, under Television

Check out this alternate scene (the animation isn’t complete) of the climactic point of the finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and see if you sense how Ahsoka really felt…

P.S. I’m still hearing that they have completed more material for The Clone Wars, but it is still unknown how and when we might see it…

(Note: you need to read the full article to see the video – it automatically plays with an ad to start, and I don’t like auto-play videos when I don’t expect them…)

NYCC hosts Pop Culture Anti-Bullying Coalition and panel

by on Oct.10, 2013, under General News

After the success of the first anti-bullying panel at San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic-Con will host the panel this weekend, as well as the Pop Culture Anti-Bullying Coalition.

In a groundbreaking move, New York Comic-Con has invited Pop Culture Anti-Bullying Coalition (@AntiBullyingCo) to exhibit at its upcoming event, which draws 100,000 fans annually and will take place at the Javits Center on October 10 – 13, 2013.

Created by actress Chase Masterson (“Star Trek” / “Doctor Who Big Finish”) and award-winning author Carrie Goldman (Harper Collins’ “Bullied”), the Coalition will have experienced staff on-hand all weekend at Booth 630 to talk with teens, young adults, kids, parents, and educators on how to overcome bullying.

“We’re not just here to stand up against bullying. Everybody knows that needs to stop,” said Masterson. “NYCC’s invitation to Pop Culture Anti-Bullying Coalition marks the first time that the movement to overcome bullying is at the heart of a con experience. With the NYCC team, we’re making a safe, go-to place where kids and adults can find resources, healing and answers.”

CW developing Mars Colony drama

by on Oct.10, 2013, under Television

The CW is developing Colony, a drama about a group of explorers who colonize Mars, “willing to leave their lives behind to brave the dangers of another planet, and the terrifying reality they discover.”

The CW is partnering with CBS TV Studios and Kennedy-Marshall for the project, with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time, Flash Forward) writing the script. The story is based off the story of the Roanoke colony, called “The Lost Colony”, where all the colonists disappeared mysteriously between 1587 and 1560, with the only clues the word “Croatoan” carved into a fence and “Cro” carved into a tree.

Robert Zotnowski and Frank Marshall will executive produce for Kennedy-Marshall along with Goldberg.

Nine classic Doctor Who episodes recovered and remastered

by on Oct.10, 2013, under Television

This one is official…nine previously missing episodes of classic Doctor Who from the Troughton years have been recovered in Nigeria, Africa. Two more were found but had previously been recovered elsewhere.

The entire serial of “The Enemy of the World”, the fourth of Season 5, has been recovered, and all but one episode of “The Web of Fear”, which introduced Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, to later be affectionately known as “The Brigadeer”, were recovered. Both serials have been painstakingly restored and remastered, with set photos and recorded audio filling in the still missing Episode 3 of “The Web of Fear”. Both will be available exclusively on iTunes October 11th, with DVD releases to follow.

Phillip Morris, director of Television International Enterprises Archive, tracked down the missing episodes via shipping records the BBC had of recordings sent out of the country. โ€œThe tapes had been left gathering dust in a store room at a television relay station in Nigeria,” Morris said. “I remember wiping the dust off the masking tape on the canisters and my heart missed a beat as I saw the words ‘Doctor Who’. When I read the story code I realized Iโ€™d found something pretty special.โ€

Sadly, this is far, far less than the rumored 90 episodes, but it still allows hope that still more will be found.

Blake’s 7 remake definitely no longer in development at Syfy

by on Oct.08, 2013, under Television

I mentioned this on Twitter yesterday, but just wanted to confirm…there were rumors a couple months ago that Syfy had passed on the Blake’s 7 remake, and that it was possibly being looked at for Microsoft for XBox Live, but I could find no credible sources.

Well, I spoke directly with Mark Stern, President of Original Programming at Syfy and Co-Head of Original Content for Universal Cable Productions, and asked him about Blake’s 7. He said that they did indeed pass on it, and had heard the same about Microsoft, but didn’t know anything more than I did.

Tweets from Georgiaville’s Leon Clarance as recent as last month did seem to indicate that it is indeed still in development, but I have been unable to get any further info yet. Hopefully we will learn something soon, but sometimes it can take a couple years of development before production can begin.
