by Doc on Dec.11, 2011, under Television
Some excellent classic Doctor Who news – two episodes of the classic series, episode 3 of Galaxy Four (the first of the serial found of four) and episode 2 of The Underwater Meanace (second of four found) have been uncovered! According to Doctor Who Online, the announcement came at the “Missing Believed Wiped” event in London, sponsored by the British Film Institute and dedicated to the recovery and screening of previously lost programming. Terry Burnett, a former engineer TVS in Southampton, had the two episodes.
There are still many, many episodes of the First and Second Doctor still remain missing (some Third Doctor episodes only exist in black and white). At the time, the BBC often re-used tapes and often disposed of film for cost reasons.
Also announced recently was Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock, the first in several video games being produced by Supermassive Games, for the Playstation 3, Playstation Vita and PC platforms, and should be out early in 2012. No word if it will be available in the U.S.
Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will immerse gamers in the universe of Doctor Who, allowing them to take on the role of the Doctor and River Song as they travel across time and space to save the Earth. Gamers must learn to master the complexities of time travel with exceptional time based game play, changes made in one time will impact another creating multiple possibilities and challenging players to solve puzzles across the centuries.
A wholly new storyline has been developed especially for this new Doctor Who console game franchise, written in collaboration with the BBC Wales team. Awesome Battleship trailer!
by Doc on Dec.09, 2011, under Movies
The latest trailer for Peter Berg’s Battleship has probably shown that yet another Hasbro game-based franchise could possibly be good…I admit, I had my doubts…but take a look below and see. Also, check out the movie poster…Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, the epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game and starring Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna, Asano Tadanobu, and Liam Neeson, Battleship hits theaters on May 18, 2012.

Latest in the “may or may not be Khan” rumors…Edgar Ramirez
by Doc on Dec.08, 2011, under Movies
Meant to mention this yesterday…Variety reports that J.J. Abrams is now eying Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez (Carlos) to replace Benicio Del Toro for the lead villain role in Star Trek 2 that Abrams still won’t tell us is Khan. Abrams is believed to be looking to make a decision quick in order to get production moving forward, after negotiations with Del Toro fell apart.
Columbiana star Jordi Mollà is also reportedly up for the role.

Rumor: Khan to be villain in Star Trek 2 but it won’t be Del Toro
by Doc on Dec.06, 2011, under Movies
Apparently the hot rumors that Benicio Del Toro (The Wolfman) would play the bad guy in Star Trek 2 – rumored to be Khan himself – aren’t true. Vulture reports that negotiations fell apart last week for him to take the role. But is the role to be Khan, played both in the original series and again in the second original timeline movie by the late Ricardo Montalban? Vulture reports that their insiders say it is true – but in reading last Friday’s report from Hitfix saying Del Toro was out, I’m also reading another possibility. Hitfix says when asked about the report that Del Toro was signed to play Khan, J.J. Abrams only response was, “Not true.” Which isn’t true? That Del Toro was signed, or that the role isn’t Khan? It does seem likely that Khan is the villain, but who knows.
I’m sure there will be a few more rumors to go before we get the real lowdown.

Confirmed: Harry Potter coming to Hollywood, and expansion in Orlando
by Doc on Dec.06, 2011, under Fun Stuff, Movies
Universal Parks & Resorts confirmed in a press conference today the hot rumor for the past week: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will come to Hollywood – specifically the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. Very little details was given, such as how they’d fit it in the park (and it WILL be part of the park, not a separate park) – but it would definitely include Hogwart’s castle and the Forbidden Journey ride.
Also confirmed but with even less detail given is that the existing WWOHP section at Islands of Adventure in Orlando will be expanded, as long rumored – but that’s it. Some rumors state that they will somehow connect to space becoming available in the Universal Studios park (fueled by the recent announcement that the long-standing Jaws attraction is closing) – but they are fairly far apart with lots of support buildings and access roads in between. More likely is that it will take over more of the Lost Continent area.
Update: Hypable has a live blog of the announcement.
