Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince next book title
by Doc on Jun.29, 2004, under General News
CNN is reporting the confirmed new title of the sixth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, shutting down some serious and not-so-serious rumors and hoaxes. Various fan sites were running around recently with “Pillar or Storge” (a reference to familial love), but J.K. Rowling has finally let the wizard out of the bag. It was also considered the title for the second book at one point, and Rowling also writes “The HBP is neither Harry nor Voldemort.”

Re:The HBP
Probably a legend about a prince long time ago who defeated the dark wizard of his time- similar to the chamber of secrets!

Re:The HBP
After doin some serious readin and thinkin, i have come to a conclusion about who the hbp is is.
I think that JKR has been using a form of misdirection to stop us guessing who it is.
JKR says: “The Half Blood Prince is neither Harry nor Voldemort.”
Also i came across a paragraph which made me come up with my theory.
It goes as such:
As well as confirming that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince had at one point been a contender for the title of the second volume in the series (now Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), Rowling further piqued readers’ curiosities by admitting that the “half blood prince” of the title is neither Lord Voldemort nor Harry himself. However, fans should not expect any further revelations; Rowling ended her message with “That’s all I’m saying on THAT subject until the book’s published.”
ok, so we know it is neither harry or voldemort, that the title of CoS was going to be HBP, and that CoS has a very important half blood prince at the center of the story.
So my conclusion is that it is Tom Riddle, who is not voldemort, but starts to style himself as voldemort alot later.
this is only my theory and every1 has their own opinion, so please voice it if I am off track.

Re:The HBP
Neville is a pure-blood, and what does he do in CoS that would make JKR name the book after him?

Re:The HBP
Your theory about tom riddle is interesting but what has tom riddle done to classify him as a prince. I myself think it is dumbledore. You never hear in the books if he is half or prue blood and he has been described as ruler of commoner and half bloods(forgot the exact quote)

Re:The HBP
Tom Riddle beacomes Voldormort, so if she said it is not Voldormort dose he change his name or is the prince Nevall Longbottom

Re:My hypothesis on the whole story.
Based on clues and hints that have been given i have came up witht this idea. JK Rowling has said that: a discovery harry makes in CoS foreshadows one made in HBP (or sumthin to that effect). I believe that the original discovery was when harry finds out voldemort transfered sum power into him (ie- the ability to talk to snakes.)This, along the part prophecy that says “neither can live while the other survives” suggests that if one does not kill the other, they will both eventually end up dying. Sort of like in Cos when if harry didnt destroy the diary, ginny would have died.
