Being Human Season 2 on Blu-ray
by Doc on Oct.19, 2010, under Television, Video/DVD
After having met the cast of the upcoming U.S. version of Being Human on Syfy, I had the opportunity to check of part of the original British series – specifically, the Blu-ray release of [sfs=1064]Being Human Season 2[/sfs] (also on [sfs=1065]DVD[/sfs], released September 21st). I have not seen season 1 yet other than bits and pieces, so I don’t have a full sense of the show, but I can see why there is a desire to bring this to the U.S. This will, however, be a brief review mostly of the Blu-ray release itself.

Is The Deep doomed?
by Doc on Aug.31, 2010, under Television
Wow…things are not looking good for the BBC series The Deep right now. Blastr has a roundup of the various reviews from the new show – and they aren’t good. They aren’t even bad-good. From the sounds of it I’m not sure I’d be able to get through it without rewinding a dozen times, saying, “They said what?!?” But I almost have to try…

by Doc on Jan.21, 2010, under Television
We had already heard that ITV series Primeval was being rescued by added income from some international channels, although initially they said there would be two more series. Now it appears that they are at least for now planning one series of 13 episodes, but they still have some problems to solve – like getting some of the characters back from the past, and how to deal with cast departures as well (which isn’t unusual here). 3rd series star Jason Flemyng is committed elsewhere, but will return for a few episodes. Update: Correction that Primeval is an ITV not BBC series…
Torchwood moving to U.S.??
by Doc on Jan.19, 2010, under Television
This is interesting – Fox is apparently developing a U.S. version of Torchwood – but with the existing production team, and possibly with some of the cast including John Barrowman (Capt. Jack Harkness). It doesn’t sound like a remake though, but could be an extension of the existing story that relocates the surviving members of Torchwood 3 to the U.S. but with a global scope…and another interesting note at the end of the article: Jane Tranter (executive VP of programming and production at BBC Worldwide, who is producing) may also try to reboot Doctor Who over hear as well somehow, related to David Tennant being in the U.S. for his U.S. pilot. Not sure what that means though…
