Filming on The Hobbit to begin in July according to Gandalf

Ian McKellan (Gandalf) has posted on his official site that filming on The Hobbit will commence this July (earlier reports said June) and casting has started in several cities. Director Guillermo del Toro is also currently living in Wellington, near the Jacksons’ studio.

Flash Forward returns tonight

Just a head’s up – Flash Forward returns to TV tonight at 10pm EDT after Lost with a recap show. V returns next Tuesday with a recap show, followed a week later by a new episode.
James Callis to join Eureka

The Prisoner 2009 mini-series on DVD next week

A&E’s re-imagining of The Prisoner starring Jim Caviezel and Ian McKellen hits the streets on DVD next Tuesday, March 23rd. A much more visually striking film, it takes the concept in a new direction with different twists. It is of course a risk to remake and cult film, and fans of the original may have trouble with this interpretation if they try and fit it in within what they are familiar with, but taken on its own it provides an interesting psychological thriller framework – but fans of the original will easily recognize Rover…check out a deleted scene below as well!

Avatar to get extra scenes and a re-release?

Haven’t got enough of Pandora yet? It looks like you’ll be able to get a little more this summer – in the form of 10-12 extra minutes that might be added for a summer re-release of Avatar. James Cameron and Fox are reportedly discussing the possibility. This could be a big boost to Avatar as well, which has been evicted from most IMAX theaters to make room for Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland.
Massive multiplayer Galactica?

So it looks like there is a Battlestar Galactica massive-multiplayer game in development. There is little known about the studio supposedly doing it, but regardless,the track record on MMOs, or games in general, on SF titles that have left the TV already isn’t very high…I’m still waiting for Stargate Worlds, still listed as “Coming in 2009”…
Alan Tudyk will be in new Rockford Files

Fan favorite Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dollhouse, V) will next star opposite Dermot Mulroney in the upcoming remake of The Rockford Files, playing one Rockford’s few friends, Detective Dennis Becker.
