Eureka and Warehouse 13 Digital Press panel
by Doc on Oct.13, 2010, under Television
So the first panel from the weekend’s Syfy Digital Press Tour was for the shows Eureka and Warehouse 13, with a preview of their special holiday episodes (sorry, I don’t have video of that), but you can find a full length video of the panel, along with a higher-resolution video (but poorer audio quality and lighting – the camera had trouble with some of the backlighting) of a particular question.
Mark Stern, Executive VP of Original Content, said that, “Ever since we’ve been doing Warehouse and Eureka I’ve wanted to do Christmas episodes or holiday episodes, also wanted to do musical episodes.” And there are upcoming musical episodes, apparently…but for now we get a holiday episode of each show, on December 7th, starting at 9pm with Eureka, and 10pm for Warehouse 13.

Dinner with Syfy’s Mark Stern
by Doc on Oct.11, 2010, under Television
Just wanted to give a quick recap of dinner last night…it was pretty informal (but a REAL nice restaurant – Bice at Portofino Bay Resort at Universal Studios), with a group of about 40 or so digital press partners and the Syfy executives. At our table we had Mark Stern, the head of programming development, and got to ask various questions. Here is a bit of recap, paraphrased somewhat as it was fairly noisy.

Syfy press event at Universal Studios Florida
by Doc on Oct.08, 2010, under Fun Stuff, Television
Just a reminder – this is probably the last post for a few days as I head down to Universal Studios Florida to take part in a Syfy press event…I will be giving rapid-fire updates on Twitter (@scifistorm) and Facebook, so be sure to follow us there – both places would probably be good in case there are problems keeping them linked together, and I’ll be uploading pictures and possibly video to Facebook. Most of the stuff takes place on Monday, and depending on battery life, etc. some stuff may appear Tuesday morning, and a full recap here on Wednesday.
By the way – more followers makes us look good, so be sure to follow us!
We should have plenty of info on Warehouse 13, Sactuary, Caprica, and the upcoming Being Human series, as well as some other things like Destination Truth, Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files, Hollywood Treasures, Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen, and even a little WWE Smackdown…and perhaps a preview of some upcoming Syfy plans.
If you’ve got a few questions about any of the above, and I get the chance I’ll ask them!
Bullock now drawn to Gravity
by Doc on Oct.08, 2010, under Movies
The lead actress list for Gravity is still growing. Sandra Bullock is now reportedly in negotiations, after it was reported a month ago that Natalie Portman was the likely candidate, and previous to that Angelina Jolie was expected to be the lead. Gravity, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, is about a woman trapped alone aboard a space station after an accident kills the rest of the crew.
Deathly Hallows will NOT be in 3D at release
by Doc on Oct.08, 2010, under Movies
If you were hoping to see a complete 3D Harry Potter film – you’re going to wait longer. Warner Bros. announced today that when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 is released on November 19th, it will only be in 2D – because the 3D conversion will not be completed in time and still meet the “highest standards of quality”. No word about a later release, or what will happen with Part 2.

Ron Moore to remake Wild Wild West next?
by Doc on Oct.06, 2010, under Television
Michael Ausiello is reporting that Ron Moore’s next target for a remake may be the 1965 SF-tinged western series The Wild Wild West, which started Robert Conrad and Ross Martin as Secret Service agents James West and Artemis Gordon who worked out in the “wild” west and had cool Bond-like gadgets. If I get the chance next week, I’ll try and see if I can get confirmation from Moore and tweet it as soon as I can.
